It's hard to believe that it's July already I know that despite rose tinted glasses; the English summers of my youth weren't all hot sunny days, riding my bike on never ending journeys of discovery with my mates. I know that they were quite often wet and insipid; but come on weather! Give us all a break, if its not raining its not been exactly cracking the flags either. Fingers crossed for a better July eh?

Back in May I took a day trip to Bury St Edmunds, I had arranged with a friend that I would go and take some pictures of his children and hopefully we'd both end up with something great. I should have had more faith in my abilities ( doing this was a first for me and I wasn't really sure how to go about it!)

Old Skool!

I'm really pleased with the results and the fantastic subjects certainly helped but the really good news is that lots of other people thought so too.  In a fit of generosity I offered to take pictures of people's children for free if I was allowed to use some of the pictures in my portfolio. I'm really pleased to say that a lady called Sarah took me up on my offer and I took pictures of "Pippa" a gorgeous 10 month old girl. I found it really quite challenging but once again the photography gods were on my side and I got some great shots.

Dolly 2Sorry Dolly, you're out!

Sarah, was very happy with the results and has agreed to let me take some more of Pippa at some point in the future, so stay tuned! On the back of  Pippa's pictures I've also booked another shoot and that'll be happening in the very near future. I think I'll also find it a challenge, the model being a 2 year old boy! I'm looking forward to it.

As with Sarah, I'm doing the shoot for free but at some point I'm going to have to start charging, just to cover sundry expenses really but that's for the future. For the time being , if I like the subject and It fills a hole in my portfolio then I'll do it for nothing (well except maybe travel expenses). I have a deal in mind for when I do start charging and I think it'll be very competitive!

Speaking of portfolios, I mentioned that I was intending create a clean simple, very stripped down portfolio site with a few select images on it. I've been working on that in the background and will be revealing all in the not too distant future. I've shared it with a couple of people and I think the reception has been very favourable.

Finally, I'd like to thank everyone that has shown their support so far, it's really appreciated and as always, if you like my work then please do click "like" and share it with your friends!
